Boudoir is still a relatively new genre of photography and seems to means quite different things to different people. If you look for ‘Boudoir Images’ on the web you will find some truly beautiful images but you will also find some, which stray towards the world of what I would call ‘glamour’. When I shoot Boudoir photography I aim to create beautiful, artistic and elegant images, which are far more understated and respectful to the women I work with and I am certainly not a glamour photographer.
Compared to the other types of photography I undertake Boudoir is totally different in the sense that it’s not so much about capturing a moment but more about taking time to create a very specific moment. Beautiful Boudoir images don’t tend to happen by chance and generally require careful guidance, posing and lighting. It’s a gentle slow process and one, which I find incredibly rewarding.
To me Boudoir is all about taking the time to create a collection of beautiful and feminine images, which flatter all shapes and sizes. It is a totally liberating experience and something I truly believe every woman should do at least once in her life, whether it’s a bride to be wanting to give her fiancée a unexpected gift the night before their wedding or a woman who simply want to do this for herself.
