My love of photography started at a very young age and my first dog (a springer spaniel called Bob) became an extremely photographed dog. Most of us take lots of quick snaps of our pets (I know I do) so when I photograph someone’s pet professionally my aim is quite different.
To me, dog photography is about taking time out to get to know the animal and then capture a series of beautiful images – either using natural light, studio lights or a combination of the two. I absolutely want to capture the dog’s character and create images, which are worthy of being put into an album or being made into a frame or canvas, hung on the wall and enjoyed for years to come. I am happy to photograph any pet (and would be delighted to photograph something really exotic!) but I usually photograph dogs and the occasional cat.
