HOW I BECAME A SPECIALIST BABY PHOTOGRAPHER

Jennifer Gillam – Specialist Baby Photography.  I created Jennifer Gillam Photography in 2010.  Although I trained as a wedding and portrait photographer I was always drawn to portrait photography.  I’m really glad that I photographed lots of weddings though.  It’s definitely the best introduction to professional photography I could have wished for.  Weddings definitely throw everything at you!  A wedding photographer needs to be completely calm, capable, organised and ready for just about anything.  Click here to find out more about newborn and baby photography

JENNIFER GILLAM – SPECIALIST BABY PHOTOGRAPHY

Whilst I was a wedding photographer I started to be asked to photograph families and babies.  I soon realised that babies were something of a calling for me!  Plus it was definitely harder than it looks!!  I now love creating and sharing precious photographs with families at such a magical time in their loves.  I soon became establised as a newborn photographer and took the plunge and built a really beautiful, purpose built studio in the grounds of my house.

After the first Covid-19 lockdown eased I realised that I needed to do things differently for two very different reasons.  I needed to be able to photograph older babies too (I had a big backlog of lockdown babies to photograph).  I also needed to be able to photograph babies in a much more hands-off and ‘socailly distanced’ way.  I’d always been drawn to the simpler, pure white baby photography but it was a big step away from what I had been doing.  The new, pure white area in my studio allows me to offer a style of baby photography I adore!  You can see more of my recent work by clicking HERE.
